Quintet Private Bank has announced the appointment of Hugo Bänziger as Chairman of its Board of Directors, marking a new step in the bank’s governance evolution and growth trajectory across Europe.
A Trusted Voice in Global Finance
With an extensive international career in banking, Hugo Bänziger brings deep strategic and regulatory expertise. He previously served on the Management Board of Deutsche Bank AG, where he was responsible for critical areas including risk, capital management, treasury, legal, and compliance. He also held senior leadership roles at Lombard Odier and chaired the board of Eurex Group AG.
Bänziger began his career at the Swiss Federal Banking Commission and later joined Credit Suisse, serving in both Zurich and London. His experience spans over three decades at the intersection of financial markets, regulatory frameworks, and institutional strategy.
His contributions extend beyond the private sector. He has served on the board of the International Committee of the Red Cross and as Governor of the London School of Economics. He has also held visiting academic positions in Singapore and Chicago. He earned a doctorate in modern history and constitutional law from the University of Berne.
Reinforcing Leadership for Long-Term Growth
Founded in 1949 and headquartered in Luxembourg, Quintet Private Bank supports high-net-worth individuals and a wide range of professional and institutional clients — including family offices and external asset managers — across key European markets and the UK.
The appointment of Bänziger reflects the firm’s ambition to further strengthen its leadership as it enters a new phase of strategic expansion.
Bernard Coucke, Deputy Chair of the Board, noted:
“Hugo brings not only a wealth of industry knowledge, but also a strong commitment to excellence. His leadership will help guide Quintet through future market cycles and support our long-term objectives.”
This change follows three consecutive years of profitable growth and is aligned with the bank’s vision for sustainable, client-centric development. Bänziger succeeds Rory Tapner, who chaired the Board from 2020 to the end of 2024. The Board also thanked Marco Mazzucchelli for serving as interim Chair and for his ongoing dedication to the firm.
With Hugo Bänziger assuming the role of Chairman, Quintet reinforces its commitment to responsible leadership, generational continuity, and delivering long-term value for its clients and stakeholders.
